La Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones de Guadalajara te invita a disfrutar el puente de marzo y el Equinoccio de Primavera en la zona arqueológica de Guachimontones, que tendrá actividades especiales hasta el día lunes 21 de marzo.
Este recinto prehispánico, que se encuentra a 45 kilómetros de Guadalajara, se diferencia del resto por sus pirámides circulares y su simbología, que son únicas en el mundo. Así, además de recargarte de energía, podrás apreciar esta arquitectura y entrar en contacto con una de las culturas ancestrales de nuestro país.
Las actividades darán inicio el sábado 19 de marzo a las 9:30 hrs, con el toque de caracoles prehispánicos y el saludo a los cuatro puntos cardinales en la zona arqueológica. A las 11:00 hrs, se llevará a cabo el juego de pelota en la explanada del Centro Interpretativo Guachimontones. En el mismo sitio, a las 16:30 hrs, se hará una ofrenda a la abuela, seguida del juego de pelota a las 17:00 hrs.

El domingo 20 de marzo, inicia la jornada a las 9:30 hrs con el toque de caracoles prehispánicos y el saludo a los cuatro puntos cardinales. A las 11:00 hrs, habrá un juego de pelota, seguido de la Danza Ceolín a las 12:00 hrs. A las 16:30 hrs, se realizará una ofrenda a la abuela, seguida del juego de pelota a las 17:00 hrs y de la Danza Ceolín a las 18:00 hrs.
Para concluir con el programa del Equinoccio de Primavera, el lunes 21 de marzo, a las 9:30 hrs será el toque de caracoles prehispánicos y el saludo a los cuatro puntos cardinales, seguido de una ofrenda a la abuela, a las 10:00 hrs. A las 11:00 hrs habrá un juego de pelota y a las 12:00 hrs, Danza Ceolín. El juego de pelota, será a las 17:00 hrs, y las actividades finalizarán con la Danza Ceolín a las 18:00 hrs.

Este centro religioso fue construido por una antigua civilización en el periodo de 350 a. C. hasta el 350 d. C. Fue descubierto por el arqueólogo Phill C. Weigand y la historiadora de arte Arcelia García en la década de 1970. El hallazgo sorprendió al mundo gracias a la arquitectura, que era diferente al resto de construcciones de Mesoamérica, y significó una aportación al patrimonio arquitectónico mundial.
Las pirámides principales, el Gran Guachi y La Iguana, constan de bases cónicas escalonadas rodeadas de plataformas rectangulares, que a su vez forman patios circulares. Esta simbología fue planeada por la civilización “Tradición Teuchitlán” para poder comunicarse con sus dioses y representa un antecedente del Rito de los Voladores, pues en esta zona se han encontrado vestigios del palo volador mucho más antiguos que en Papantla y de otras regiones del país.
Desde Guadalajara, se toma el autobús desde la Antigua Central Camionera hasta Teuchitlán y de ahí contratar un tour a caballo o tomar taxi hasta la zona arqueológica. En auto, se tomar la carretera Guadalajara – Ameca, y luego, seguir por la desviación a Teuchitlán.
La entrada general al museo y a la zona arqueológica tiene un costo de 30 pesos; 15 pesos con credencial de estudiantes, maestros y adultos mayores. La entrada es libre para menores de 12 años.
