La Grand Costa Maya es una región localizada al sur del estado de Quintana Roo, que colinda con el Río Hondo, frontera con Belice; al este con el Mar Caribe; al oeste, con el estado de Campeche, y al norte, con Maya Ka’an.
Llegar a esta zona es muy fácil, ya que el Aeropuerto Internacional de Chetumal está ubicado tan solo a 2 km de la ciudad. Lo mejor es que, a diferencia de otros destinos, aquí tienen más cantidad de vuelos, de y hacia la Ciudad de México, Guadalajara y Cancún.

Una vez que tu vuelo aterrice, podrás encontrar ya sea un taxi o un autobús para llegar a tu hotel, pues estas son las dos formas más comunes de transporte a lo largo de los destinos que conforman la Grand Costa Maya.
La puerta de entrada es Chetumal, llamada antiguamente Chactemal, y que fue fundada por marinos; en alguna época tuvo una gran importancia comercial marítima, actualmente es la capital del estado de Quintana Roo.
Los atractivos turísticos que la rodean poseen la magia de transmitir a los visitantes la belleza de su naturaleza, la singularidad de su cultura, la historia ancestral de sus comunidades y los exquisitos sabores de su cocina típica.
Atractivos culturales
Es una ciudad con una gran riqueza cultural e histórica que se ve representada en los diferentes monumentos que se encuentran a lo largo de toda la ciudad.
Si vas sobre el bulevar Bahía, que por cierto, es el más largo de toda la Península de Yucatán, podrás encontrar varios monumentos:
- “Al Pescador”
- “Al Renacimiento”
- “A la Bandera”
También cuenta con el Corredor Escultórico, en donde es posible admirar esculturas de artistas plásticos de diferentes partes del mundo.
El Bulevar Bahía rodea a la hermosa Bahía de Chetumal, la cual ha sido declarada Santuario del Manatí, y es el escenario perfecto para admirar los amaneceres más bellos del Caribe Mexicano.
CLIMA
La Grand Costa Maya tiene una temperatura promedio anual de 80° F / 26° C. La temporada de lluvias es de mayo a octubre, por lo que es mejor visitarla en las vacaciones de invierno o en Semana Santa.
